COFFI Liverpool

Coffi is an independent coffee shop located in a self-contained terraced former coach-house at Pilgrim Street, in the Georgian Quarter of Liverpool city centre. This modest building of two storeys is located within the curtilage of the Grade II listed C19 terraced former dwelling house at 29 Rodney Street.

Listed building consent was obtained to refurbish and fit-out the premises, including the new ground floor shopfront behind the altered existing timber garage doors. The first floor timber shutter was retained, as were the hit-and-miss dovecote brickwork. A small hanging sign is a characterful addition to the streetscape.

At ground floor level, the interior brickwork was previously painted and this has been retained, with the menu applied directly to the building. The elemental counter complements the workshop character of the space. New conservation style rooflights have transformed the character of the first floor, where the previously dilapidated finishes have been removed and the retained brickwork has been exposed and repointed. A simple timber screen provides the balustrade to the staircase between the spaces.
